please help? we had offer accepted for another flat...during the online reference form..it asked for current address and landlords number and email etc...put his number and didnt know email so just put a random fake one....but obviously they wont be able to get hold of him anyway as hes done a runner....what should we do? contact estate agents of new place and tell them what happened etc? will it look bad on us...just worried the new landlord might look on it in a bad way...even tho we as tenants havent done anything wrong?0

What do you mean by 'random fake email'? Did you make it clear it was fake just to get through the form (i.e. filled out the box with something like 'idontknowhisemail@pleaseringhim.com') or did you make up something which reads like an actual plausible email? I would definitely get in touch with the agency and explain the situation, they're going to find out he's uncontactable anyway, better it came from you.0

honesty is best in this scenario and sadly you opted not to, better to come clean or the new LL will not be impressed and wonders what else you have given as fake"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

If the form would not allow you to continue/submit without an email address, then a 'fake email' is justified if it's obviously fake (as Bossypants says above). But if the fake email was not clearly fake, or was not needed, then putting something misleading in the form is not going to help you one iota!Be honest and upfront with your situation.0

Tell the council you are a HMO.
Tell the owner to supply proof they have regained possession.

could we legally be made to pay council tax here?0 -

The owner is nothing to do with this.
The council should be chasing the landlord. Was the landlord resident - were you lodgers or tenants?0
