I booked travelodge for an event that has been postponed, I tried to amend my booking to the new dates however had to pay an extra £62 on top of what I already paid that was for 2 nights, so I changed it to 1 night and that’s half the price I had already paid and I wouldn’t get the rest of the money back, I’m not sure what to do because I see both options as unfair, I don’t see why I can’t just have the room for the same price I paid for this other dates, I’ve found other hotels for cheaper but if I cancel the room at travelodge I just get a voucher not a refund as my booking was a saver rate.

It's because you're changing the booking and presumably didn't make a refundable booking, meaning you have no cancellation rights.
Getting a voucher is a good deal and more than you're entitled to. Grab it with both hands.1
