Tours, holidays, gigs etc???? Why are these comps being posted?

There seems to be so many comps being posted to win tickets to gigs/concerts, tours of or holidays in the next month or so! Why when there are so many 'gathering' experiences/holidays/flights being cancelled and we are being told not to attend such events? Even weddings are to be attended by no more than 5 people! So why are people posting such comps? Seems such a waste of time, especially as compers have to click on the comp to either enter or skip it! Can't we just not post such comps at this moment in time eg comps that include tickets to events or tours of or holidays that are due to be taken or attended in the next few months. This coronavirus chaos could last for months, even up to a year or more! I cannot see winners even getting to win such prizes!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

There's a chance that events will be postponed rather than cancelled so prizes might be valid for the re-arranged date, or that the "we will supply a prize of equal or greater value" term might be applied.
The bigger problem is with comps posted in the past few weeks, from now onwards I would expect prizes in new comps to be for events some time in the future.

To be honest the same could be said of most comps. Who knows if prizes will be available or can be managed and distributed.
I will continue to post any comps I find
It will be down to luck as is all comping5 -
They will usually have been scheduled some way in advance and it's really down to the promoters to cancel them - For holidays events etc the "exceptional" circumstances are very likely to mean they will just cancel the competitions by not picking winners but it's surprising they have not made more of an effort to pull them as with no actual sales to be promoted they are fairly pointless.

I don't see the problem, one on Facebook has changed their T&C taking the virus into consideration, instead of a June holiday can be taken when things in the world are safe. Am sure many others will follow suit. Would rather enter something that may be postponed, or post something that may be postponed, than do nothing at all, after all it's all free and costs me nothing to do either of the aboveI love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I think there may be problems with all sorts of prizes (except maybe cash) as 'the bloke in the office who sends the prizes out' just won't be in the office. I'd certainly think twice about entering anything by post for that very reason.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. There are many comps posted which some folk have absolutely no interest in but others do and I would rather have the opportunity to enter a comp of any kind than not know about it at all. The fact that we are in an unprecedented situation does not change that for me, and as with all bad or good things in life, "This too will pass" and I'm sure the reputable competitions will honour their commitments to winners.9
