SSE electric key not working

I have just topped up my electric key with a generous amount of money but when I tried to insert into the meter it says 'token accepted' but the credit is not updated?
(There is no debt on the meter)
Therefore I came across a similar post and the user stated that the credit will be updated once you top up again so I went to get another £5 in but it is still not working.
I have tried to clean it, brush it, putting in and out repeatedly but the credit still remain the same.
I am just a tenant of this property and I am not really familiar with this prepayment meter.
I have already contacted the landlord but apparently he has not been replying and I am kind of panic as the credit is running out in a few days.
What should I do?

Did you get ytour own key from the supplier, or are you using a key supplied by the landlord which may have been used by a previous tenant?
If supplied by the landlord then you could be paying off someone else's debt and you must contact the supplier and get your own account and a new debt free key.0 -
If you plan to stay there for a reasonable period, switch to a credit tariff. You're probably on a rip-off tariff anyway.0

SSE say this:There was an SSE pre-pay meter for electricity (but not gas) when I moved in. I got rid of it as quickly as possible. IIRC the key was like a USB dongle that I added credit to at my local Post Office. I'm not sure the PO would have spare keys and the wherewithal to transfer credit to a new one.
Trouble putting credit on your meter
If you're having problems topping up your meter, wipe your key or card gently with a clean dry cloth and put it back in. If this doesn't work, contact us and we'll be happy to help.
If you've got a token that isn’t working, take it back to the shop you where you got it so they can give you a new one. Remember to keep your receipts, as they may come in handy as a record of what you've bought.
Can you contact SSE directly rather than trying to sort out the issue with your landlord? I'm not sure how the pre-pay system works. Is the 'account' in your or your landlord's name?
You can contact SSE via phone or online chat: https://sse.co.uk/help/contact-us?queryType=Gas%20and%20electricity&contactAbout=I%20need%20help%20with%20a%20Prepayment%20meter0 -

I did try to contact SSE through their online live chat and they suggest me to get my landlord to call them, which he only did today.
SSE advised to check at the Paypoint that I went to which I actually did on the day right after I got home and realized that the meter was not updated when I insert the key repeatedly.
