Reclaiming money for flights

We have easy jet flights booked for May, we can't cancel and get out money back unless the flights are cancelled. We can change our flights to later in the year but will loose money if they are cheaper. Do we change flights and loose some money or risk loosing it all if they are not cancelled in May?

Is there any rush to do anything at the moment? As you are not travelling until May why not wait to see what happens? If the FCO travel advisory is extended then the flights will likely be cancelled and you can then seek a refund/credit/change.1

Booked a package but return flight (jet2) cancelled. Tour op said I had to pay for new flight (ryanai) which they would refund me when Jet2 refunded them. This I did but as flights where scarce I couldn't get one back to my original departure airport so I had to pay for a taxi to get to the original airport to pick up the car. Should I be refunded the taxi fare. Finally (although not a biggy, in all this I lost a night/days holiday..... Is it worth a claim?
I appreciate there are a lot of people worse off than me but the Ryanair fliewas a fair chunk of money.....0 -
@Lowerfold : In theory, with your circumstances, yes Jet2 should refund your RyanAir flights and taxi to original point (if that was the only reasonable and practical way back). The travel industry is in fairly unchartered waters at the moment, literally fighting for survival. Jet2 Holidays and Jet2 will be needing to preserve cash to keep the business going and saving British jobs. Perhaps leave it a while before approaching them so they can focus on the urgent stuff. Maybe even suggest a compromise option. I think this comes to a personal choice and only you knowing and deciding what’s best.

I think that's a very fair point, my plan was to leave it a while until a degree on normality returns.
I'm conscious cash flow may become an issue for travel companies in these uncertain times, so my plan was to forward the details of my out of pocket expenses and offer them the option to refund me by credit note or voucher. Obviously there is a degree of risk in this at my end, but I'm sure there will be a better chance of a satisfactory outcome.0
