Coronavirus and clothing returns

Hello,

I'm Just wondering will return periods be extended?

My household have currently been quarantined and I don't want to interact with other people, due to spreading the illness.  I will therefore miss out to return some items to Primark. Would shops be more lenient, given the circumstances? Or not. I completely understand if they can't, as they're a business and the future is uncertain for all businesses.

I'm also curious as to what other retailers are like!

Can't you pass the clothes on to somebody else to return on your behalf? I suspect though that the fact that some retailers (including Primark) are (temporarily) closing some stores means they probably will extend return periods.

I don't think returning goods from a quarantined household is a good idea.
  • Good point! I don't even know they'll except clothes. Its a really strange situation. Thanks for replying both

If you put the clothes in a sealed bag in their own isolation for a couple of days, it will be fine to return them.  Evidence suggests that although the virus can survive on some hard surfaces for 48 hours or perhaps longer, softer materials such as fabrics can't sustain the virus for more than a few hours.

The above suggestions may work if the OP paid by cash but if not... the shop will want to refund in the same way that payment was made.
  • Here in Spain Zara sent out an email to all newsletter receivers saying they'd extend the return period since their shops are shut. I would probably contact the retailer directly to see what their policy is. Better yet, ask them on social media and that might provoke them to do some similar if they hadn't already planned to do so

I have a parcel to collect from TKMaxx.
All their UK shops are 'closed to customers'.

    Returns

All our stores are currently closed and we cannot say when they will reopen. If you are unable to return your item within our usual period of 28 days because of the closure of our stores, we will extend our returns period for 14 days from the date the store reopens. If you have a Click and Collect order waiting in one of our stores, we would be happy to cancel your order and give you a full refund if you would like us to. Alternatively we can keep hold of your order until after the store has reopened. If you have an outstanding Click and Collect order with us, please contact us on customerservice@tjxeurope.com to discuss which option you’d like to take. If you cancel your order, please note that the refund may take up to 10 working days to appear on your account. If you need to further discuss your return, please contact us at customerservice@tjxeurope.com
    So, sounds pretty fair.

But the OP's situation is different as the store he/she purchased from is still open for business so unwanted items could still be returned.
Hopefully, Primark will be understanding when the OP is well enough to return the otems.

Email from Debenhams saying they've extended the returns time on deliveries to 60 days.

Better be quick as Primark are shutting stores.

Or take your time, as they'll undoubtedly be extending return periods for any closure period.
