Pc Dead Help !!!!!

My son has a pc running xp pro and all was working fine .He shut down as usual but for some reason it doesn't show any sign of life at all.We have checked fuses etc on leads but still nothing .Im at a loss as to what to try next ....Please can you help !!

Unusual for a pc to die with no warning. Bit of a bother but you could try hooking up a comp you know is working using his leads then take his and hook it up elsewhere using different leads and see if you get anywhere with that. It would seem to be a power situation unless you are getting power to his unit but no life.

Thanks we have tried using different leads on his pc and his leads on my pc and it told us all his leads are working fine..

Make/model? Likely to be a dead power supply unit, quite easy to replace.

Well it was built for him at local pc store 3 or 4 years back so not sure of make etc ,is what you call the power supply unit the box with the fan built in ?

Yes more info here. Available here from about £6 upwards, although it's a good idea to spend more.

Hes going to bring it round and i will let you know the result as im going to take mine out and see if it solves the problem ,if so i will know thats what he needs to get hold of.Thanks very much for your help
