Should I rebook or try and get a refund?

Holiday booked for the summer with Kuoni going to Mauritius. Are they issuing refunds for summer yet? Worried that if I reschedule then I may not want to travel if conditions are still bad, but the travel ban may have been lifted and insurance won't pay out.
Also, if you reschedule does that count as a new booking on annual insurance terms? Could I end up losing protection?
