Travel Insurance

Hi, I was due to travel on the 7th April to Flordia for two weeks. I purchased annual worldwide family travel insurance with virgin money (silver) last year to cover us for a holiday to Mexico. This expires on the 5th April. On the 14th March I purchased Debenhams annual family insurance (luxury) to start on the 5th April. Now the agent we booked through is being unhelpful and says we either reschedule or lose our money. He said I won't be able to claim on insurance as they will say I have been offered a solution? So two questions. Is he right? And secondly if I do have to claim off my insurance, who am I covered with?? Virgin are saying they won't deal with anyone until 48hrs before travel date?!

The insurers are absolutely rammed on the phones and they are right to ask people to wait. So do so, and then ring Virgin and ask.0
