Travel insurance hotel booked by someone else

Hi,
Looking for some advice on claiming on my travel insurance for a hotel room booked by someone else.
I was supposed to be going to Amsterdam with two friends, however, due to the FCO announcment against all non essential travel we are unable to travel (our insurance would be invalid if we went against FCO advice).
I want to claim for my flights and hotel through my insurance as I am unable to get a refund from each of these as they are being very unreasonable.
The problem is that my friend booked the hotel for the three of us and we transferred her the money. We all have individual insurance policies and I would like to claim through my own as I have no excess to pay.
Would be good to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation or would know if I could claim for the hotel ?
