Would it be a bad idea to rebook USA trip for early Sept?

We were due to go to the US on Monday. Obviously that's now not happening.
The only weeks which aren't significantly more expensive to rebook are early September and November. For various reasons, early September would suit much better, but I'm not sure if this is far enough away now. I wouldn't have to pay the cost in full until mid-August. Should I go ahead and secure our dates, or wait it out?
I have to rearrange some things that we've booked tickets for over there, so I would welcome some advice on whether to pull the trigger.
