Disconnects when playing poker?

Hi all
I'm having problems with my internet connection but only when playing online poker. I'm with Virgin (not cable) and connect through a speedtouch 330 usb modem. I am fine for browsing and emails and stuff but whenever I play the poker I am getting disconnected every few minutes (only from the poker, my internet is fine), it happens with Ladbrokes, William Hill and Pacific. I've tried taking the software off and downloading it again, have restarted the computer and pulled most of my hair out!
Any ideas?
Thanks

Make sure the modem is the only device on the USB port.
I do not mean the physical port but within the system.
Good way to test if you have a powerd USB hub plug it in that. Why?
Well USB port only have a small voltage and if you have more than one device pulling a high voltage they stop working.
Work your way through the USB root hubs:
Device manager/Universal Serial Buss controlers/USB Root Hub/properties/Power tab
But the best advice is get a router for Christmas.0 -
I was having the same problem as you with poker wherever I played e.g. ladbrokes, partypoker etc but unlike you everything internet related was affected, browsing downloading and so on. My problem was my cable modem and when it was replaced everything worked properly again.
Maybe it is time for you to ditch usb and connect to the internet via LAN? I can't think why else you could be having this problem.0
