Cost of furniture storage?

I have explained on another thread that I am looking, without much success, for a short-term let while we have building work going on in our house. If this ever happens, we will need to store some of our furniture/possessions as we would be moving from a 4-bed house to a 2-bed apartment.
In order to give costs to the insurance company, can anyone give me a rough estimate of storage costs and the best way to do it. I'm assuming that the removal firm could take it away and store it after moving us to the rental? If I knew the costs for a 2-bed house contents to be stored for 3 months that would help greatly. We are in the south-east near Gatwick Airport if that helps.
I know this is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question but I can't work out how to calculate storage costs even roughly.

get some quotes from storage companies egHow long for? Considering hiring a van yourself for the removals and keeping your excess furniture etc in that for the duration. No idea how the weekly cost compares but do the research!!Ring a couple of local removal companies....

We paid £200 per month for a half size shipping container outdoors. Worked fine. Around double that for one of the indoor places. Would be big enough for what you describe.
