Wedding Insurance Coronavirus

Hi All
This is the first time I have used the forum although received Martins e mails for years and was hoping to make him aware of this so he can highlight it but not sure how?
My daughter’s wedding is in May and with everything happening regarding the Coronavirus and mass gatherings I am assuming the wedding is off.
Phew we thought glad we took out wedding insurance at the time.
Having made tentative enquires below this is the response we got from the insurance company
Wasn’t sure whether I was able to post the name of the company so haven’t for now but the whole thing is a sick joke.
I understand that anyone taking out insurance now would not be covered but this was taken out over a year ago.
Any help much appreciated
Regards
Mike

Thank you for your email.
I can confirm that xxxx does not cover any
claim as a result of any notifiable disease. A notifiable
disease is any disease that is required by law to be
reported to government authorities. As COVID-19
(Coronavirus) has officially been registered as a notifiable
disease in the UK, there is no cover if your wedding were to
be cancelled or rearranged due to this.
For more information please refer to the General Exclusion
section of your Policy Wording.
I appreciate that you may be disappointed by this, however
our policies do still provide many other areas of cover, you
can find these on the policy schedule page of your policy
documents.
Kind regards,

This isn’t Martin Lewis’ website any more and I’m fairly certain he doesn’t post on here any more.
if the insurer’s terms don’t cover notifiable disease then unless they offer a GOGW (and there are no other ways of claiming under the cover you do have) then you’re up slack alley. You can’t expect them to cover something that wasn’t included in your original policy.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)1 -
There's an MSE article about Wedding Insurance and COVID-19 that was posted a couple of days ago over on the Insurance board - not sure of the content
