Recover tax on ppi

i am the Executor for a deceased relative.I successfully made a ppi claim which had tax deducted of £500
HMRC refused to repay tax stating that during period of administration no saving allowance was due so tax was correctly deducted
any one had experience of this please?

That sounds correct.
Remember to ensure than any inheritance tax is pud on the redress before distribution.0
