Neighbour put disgusting bins in my empty wheel bin, I left them out

Options
My bin was emptied a few weeks ago, when I came to put it in there was two bags with nappies and crap inside them, I wasn't going to look after that for two weeks (where would I put my own rubbish) so I left it outside next to the row of houses assuming they would pick it up next time, it didn't get picked up so I've called the council to report it. There are cameras there so I'm just wondering if they did investigate it would it fall under me for putting it there, or whoever dumped the crap in my rubbish in the first place?

  • Legally speaking, who ever put the bags in your bin was fly tipping as they had no right to put their rubbish in your property but in reality, nothing will happen about that.
Your removing the rubbish and leaving it on the street is also fly tipping and if this was recorded on CCTV then it's a possibility that the council will act (probably just a warning letter or a verbal warning).

If your bin wasn't full when you put it out, then I'm failing to see why you were so petty.
If you don't want poepl putting things in your bin, can you store it elsewhere? Or fit a lock to it.

My bin was full when I put it out, I mean, I put my bin out, the council emptied it, then when I got home from work and it was time to put my bin back in my garden, someone had obviously missed the bin day and decided to shove their crap in my empty bin, knowing I would have to keep it for 2 weeks

We had this a few times with the druggie scum that used to live next door. I asked them to not do it again then told them to not do it again. Next time I got some gloves on and posted the stuff through their letterbox.

Do you know who it is?

In case it's of interest - search for "Wheelie bin gravity lock"
It's a lock you can fit to a wheelie bin which locks the lid when it's in its normal position, preventing anyone else from opening it and putting stuff in or taking stuff out, but which releases and opens when the bin is turned upside down when its being emptied into the rubbish truck so the bin men can empty it without needed to unlock it.

It's a lock with a key - you unlock the lock, open the lid, put your rubbish in and them close and lock the bin again.

That may be ok if the bins are emptied directly into the van, ours are not and we have bags in them I cannot imagine our bin men would be prepared to turn bins upside down to empty them, they just take the bags out and throw them straight unto the dustbin wagon, don't even bother to close the lids again so if it is raining the bins get soaking wet inside.

Just don't close the lid the day they are coming, close /lock the lid the other days.
