12 Week Isolation

I have Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia and I am therefore needing to isolate for 12 weeks from this weekend (if I follow the Government advice from Monday 16th March) - the advice is that members of my household should also consider isolating to protect me (my husband and two children aged 4 and 2). My husband is self employed so it will mean we will have no income other than my SSP and he cant claim from his critical illness or life insurance for his loss of earnings as he doesn’t actually have Covid-19! We are hoping that the government will at least announce that he will be able to claim SSP too (not much but every little helps obviously). We will need to apply to take mortgage breaks etc... as our income will be 1/5 of what it is normally! Today we have also been told that we will need to continue to pay full childcare (to our childminder, who is also obviously self employed) during the isolation period (neither child is funded because one is only 2 and the other is at school). This whole thing is extremely stressful! Our estimated income won’t even cover the ongoing childcare (despite not actually using it of course) let alone all the other bills that will continue!!
Any advice/tips much appreciated! Do we not self isolate the whole family and my husband still go to work in order to cover our bills (Which then defeats the object) or do we hope and pray that our ongoing costs will in someway be covered?
I honestly feel more trapped from my diagnosis now than I did when I was given it! Many thanks

Without being rude, you have posted this in the Overseas Travel section. Are there travel-related issues that you are having?

Your husband should already be taking extreme care, with every awareness and precaution to avoid infection. You and he will have to judge the chances of success in this, ongoing as the danger increases.
