Hi, we had a trip to london from scotland to visit Harry Potter studios and they have said they are closing and we can get our money back but the train operator are not offering this as trains are still running also the hotel say we can reschedule but no refunds. We cant reschedule to next year due to holiday commitments and we stand to loose the train fairs unless the government cancels all travel. Where do I stand with refunds are they correct?

Yes they are. It is always a risk when you book parts of a trip separately. If one part becomes unavailable for any reason there is no automatic right to a refund on the other parts.

As it stands the situation is no different to if, say, the studios had burnt down! Obviously you would get a refund on the tickets but not the train fare and hotel. If travel were to be banned then the situation would change. However, currently the government is only "advising", much to the frustration of the entertainment and travel industries.
