O/S Daily Wednesday 18 March 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, and I'm bathed, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Damp underfoot this morning, we've had some rain during the night - but not raining at the moment and it got quite blustery again in the afternoon but that seems to have blown away too.
Dinner last night was beef stew, dumplings, LO yorkshires, mash, carrots, broc and peas. Tonight will be bacon, egg, sausage, beans and mushrooms - I'm endeavouring to make use everything we have and not throw anything away - especially the fresh items. Last day of my working week today - so will get a "to do" list together later.
Keep safe and well x

Morning,
Thanks for starting us off nmlc. Weather today is forecast rain. I am going to work and then just shopping for bits and bobs, that I can get. I had a look at online shopping but the first slot was April 4th. Of course with ordering and paying so far in advance , their is no guarantee that what I order now will be in stock on the 4th April
The shelves were very empty in T's , but I did get some rice a small bag and some dried milk
Need to pop to the bank and will buy more food, unfortunately we do not own a very large freezer
Hope everyone gets through the day as best we can.

Morning All
Wet and breezy again, don't think we'll see much sunshine today but we can hope!
Busy day at work again cancelling all trips and visitors to school, such a shame for the children especially those who were due to go on an outdoor residential trip next week. Lots of children are staying home and we are quite a few staff down so not sure what will happen over the next couple of days.
No swimming this morning as the pool doesn't open early on Wednesdays, will see if it's open tomorrow. I really feel for the older folk who go, it gives them a reason to get up in the morning, they get some exercise and more importantly have social interaction, very worrying times.
I was at Aldi last night and the shelves were pretty much empty, couldn't believe my eyes! I was trying to get some nappies for Sophie but none in stock, will try again today.
Gosh, what a moany post this is! I hope you can all have as good a day as possible, take extra care. XX13 -
Morning folks. Thanks NMLC for the start. First and foremost I hope you all are all keeping well. This is Day 3 of confinement to barracks for me and I am not looking forward to at least another 12 weeks of this. If (and when) the weather picks up it might be more bearable sitting out in the sunshine with a good book and shouting to the odd neighbour or two.
Far from settling down the panic buying seems to be getting worse. DD rang after she had dropped the girls at school and said she was off to Morries to try and get a few bits and did I need anything. I told her I am ok for now, which is just as well, as when she got their at 9.00 virtually every shelf/fridge/freezer was bare!! She then chanced her luck at Asda - just the same! Next attempt Aldi, after queuing forever to get in the car park! And it was the same story there. She kept sending me photos of all the empty shelves! Surely the shopping situation must settle down soon.
I spent yesterday doing ...... precisely nothing! Psyching myself up to start all the neglected jobs and de-cluttering! Oh what's the rush I have another 12 weeks to do it in!
((HUGS)) for everybody, especially our poorlies, sad, lonely and isolated. Stay safe everybody xxx

Good morning and belated birthday wishes for snoozer.
It is another dull day here, with rain forecast later. We have had one sunny day, well almost sunny! I'm struggling a bit with the washing. Hardly a big problem though.
Sorry to hear about people's worries about self-isolation. I miss that by about a year, I'll be 69 in a couple of months but I am now doing the distancing thing. I can keep in contact with my friends without direct contact. I bet I'll get fed up with that but full isolation must be much harder. I work as an independent for 3 organisations, with one I have finished a job (just) until that job starts again in September, the second has asked me to do a catch up visit for a family where I've finished work for now and I think that will have to be postponed because of using public transport. Job 3 is for my former employer and they contacted me yesterday to say all staff now working from home and contact with families is limited to phone and that's ok as I just have references to take up and can do that by phone. I don't think I can take on any more work for a while, the central work is face to face.
So I might end up with a clean and tidy home, except where thwarted by my family's untidiness The garden will get attention.
Hope everyone is able to stay safe, have a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Good morning folks.Back to waking with the dawn, must be Spring. 😀Today I'm expecting the builders to start clear out all the rubble and old wood from the dining room. I've got a Waitrose delivery coming this morning with the heavy stuff. Couldn't get my usual order of Dettol so turned to bleach instead.TA - I don't think that you haven't got to self isolate just yet unless you choose to. It's a long time and won't be fun. My DM isn't allowing any hugs or kisses 😞 for the duration. It's a bright sunny morning though still chilly, perfect for a walk in the park if the sun hangs around.Take care folks, my thoughts are with all the poorlies. I hope you can all have a happy Wednesday at least.14

Morning
Camelot its hard not to be moany isn't it when every morning theres something else to deal with.
Online shopping for me and mum seemed such a good idea at the time but not sure now ...one good thing I have a recurring slot which wont be cancelled for me but nothing available so no point really !!! mum is more of a worry and Ive tried to get slots till 1st April but none available for all April now ....sigh. Also the rationing is quite confusing....if you buy loose products like apples and buy 7 is that OK? Anyway I guess we will all survive and eventually this will pass.
Spoke to my terrorist and he had forgotten on Monday....strange ....anyway he's coming tomorrow in theory. Today I need to clean the kitchen when I plan to ask Alexa to play some very happy music and politely ask the brush for a danceIm sick of miserable its just not me so its time to shake myself down and tango through the house. One thing about all this including the stroke is that you realise how tentative your normal existence is and maybe appreciate it more down the line
Burger night tonight so need to crack on and make those. Love to all especially rubes x

Morning all
Dull and overcast here and meant to stay the same all day. I have put the bins out and got a wash on the go but that will have to go in the TD. DD has been told to work from home for the foreseeable so will set herself up in the little study to make video calls in etc, Im glad really as part of her work is with refugees and some have just traveled through Europe etc.
Today I am going to sort out the freezer and see exactly what we have in there, I will also attempt to go to a local warehouse type shop and stock up on what we can tins etc, tomorrow I shall go to Aldi and get what fresh stuff I can and then try and hold up indoors for as long as possible, we will have to nip to the shops for milk etc but there is a local one we can go to. The shops here are the same as everywhere with virtually nothing on the shelves but I will see what I can do.
I am slightly worried they will cancel my op but will face that when it comes, my house is benefiting from me being at home, I cleaned all the kitchen drawers out yesterday !
Right better get on stay safe everyone xx15 -
Morning all
Bit grey n chilly here Dolly walked and fed no one else on the field just the way we like it . The wedding was officially cancelled yesterday so Plan B now in full swing but how much swing will be up to DD2 as we are not sure what will happen in the coming weeks and trying to find suppliers and venus plus all the associated things like cars ,hairdressers and halls with 4 weeks to go won't be easy but we will do the best we can we already laugh as we have some fun plans to try to execute so watch this space
Right DH is working from home and driving me spare already DS has had his work stopped and is worried he may have to close his business but you know what we have each other we have food ,tv, board games ,lap tops and phones so we will be ok we are luckier than some especially those over 70 who are alone .
Right dinner tonight sausage n mash and some housework after 3 pm as DD2 is on nights and DH has loads of conference calls
Gers glad the works are coming to an end
AOD I think all our homes and gardens will be featuring in magazines by the end of this apparently B&Q was rammed the other day with people buying paint and such like
TA I too thought people would have run out of space to store things but even our local butcher has had to discontinue items as they cannot get them from their supplier
Ruby as always thinking of you
Nels how is your mum going to cope without her weekly banana fondling x
Right have a great day take care of yourselves and try to have a peaceful calm day xSlava Ukraini14 -
My friend offered to get any shopping for me yesterday, just porridge I said. She tried 3 supermarkets, none to be had. As you know I am poorly and can only do a bit at a time but like many of you the kitchen cupboards are gradually getting cleaned and some seeds have been planted. All my U3A groups have been cancelled so I am going to look for some online learning to keep me busy. Have decided to limit reading the news to once a day as I am beginning to get a bit overwhelmed.13
