BBQ Gas hose fitting

Options
I have a gas barbeque with a hose leading from it that fits onto a regular gas cylinder. But the fitting on the end of the hose that fits on to the gas cylinder has somehow got stuck onto the current empty gas cylinder and I can't get it off. Many have tried and failed so I think I am resigned to cutting the hose and attaching a new fitting to the end of the hose.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these fittings that will go on the end of the hose and attach to a regular gas cylinder???

Remember gas cylinders are 'wrong handed' - so you may have spent the weekend tightening it on further.....

Failing that you're after a regulator to suit your particular gas bottle supplier (no they aren't all interchangeable - at least they aren't around here) - which you'll get at a camping shop, or at the place you get your gas bottles.

I always just get the regular Calor Gas bottles from the petrol station down the road. i don't think they will do the 'Regulator' I am after. Will try a camping shop.

I'm pretty sure I haven't tightened it up further. Its one of these easy to use fittings that looks like a UFO and has a little black lever on top to lock and unlock to gas cyclinder. Either way the damn thing doesn't come off. I think the locking mechanism has probably jammed itself on there.

Easily done. If you have the cylinder in front of you with the outlet and hose facing away from you then you need to move the spanner from right to left. It is the opposite to what you might expect so maybe a tap on the spanner with a hammer in the other direction may do the trick.

Thing is, its just a simple hand held twist and turn mechanism. Quarter turn on and quarter turn off.

Thanks for your help guys. Greatly appreciated.

Take it all down the camping shop when you go - they might have seen the problem before and know the 'knack' of getting it off
