My 73 year old parents had their cruise cancelled and refunded in full - they were due to go next Monday. Their insurance was arranged specifically for this trip, and because of a history of cancer (now recovered) it was over £350. Can they claim a refund of the insurance?

I can appreciate where you are coming from. However ... I doubt you can obtain a refund. You generally take out insurance in the hope that you never need to use it ... I'd be grateful the cost of the trip has been refunded in full - not minus any excess.

Some insurers allow you to change the dates if the policy hasnt been used yet. Coverforyou do this

Insurers take the view that they have been on risk that your parents might have made a claim if they needed to cancel at any time before departure. As there is now no risk of claiming for medical expenses whilst onboard the insurers might offer a discount or transfer it to another booking, but they will not offer a full refund
