Private renting through COVID_19

Hi ,
So government has said it's looking in to 3 months holiday to mortgage holders and obviously people in council housing won't be affected but what about myself and millions of others in private rented property who's landlords will be mortgage free for three months but then we have to also shell out for 3 months rent . Have I missed it or are we being overlooked by the government as usual ?

They are going to stop evictions for the duration of the outbreak I believe, last I heard council tenants still paid rent?0

My understanding is mortgage relief is only if you have financial difficulty caused by the virus so most landlords won't automatically be eligible. Landlords will still be expected to pay the full loan in the future.
Landlords who don't have mortgages get nothing and you shouldn't assume they are wealthy enough to just let you off paying rent.
I am expecting the government to do something more soon. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
It's not mortgage free 3 month period, it's deferring payment and would likely have to prove a need such as getting no rent. During this time you may be able to negotiate deferring your rent with the landlordpmitch9184 said:Hi ,

As a landlord, I am glad that my property is empty so that I do not have to deal with folks like the OP who seem to think that landlords do not have bills to pay.

As a home owner on a mortgage (not a landlord) this is why self isolating is a load of crap as not going to pay my bills.Socajam said:As a landlord, I am glad that my property is empty so that I do not have to deal with folks like the OP who seem to think that landlords do not have bills to pay.0 -
Their other expenses don’t stop just because they delay their payments a bit, and they’ll still owe the missing payments. If you are struggling to lay your rent now then how will you be able to catch up later?pmitch9184 said:Hi ,

Most job losses or losses of income due to covid 19 are going to be temporary so that question answers itself and people always need a roof to live under plus I'd expect a landlord to have some sort of security against no or reduced rent payment at least in the very short term.John_ said:
