Sadly my granddaughter aged 17 has left home due to family breakdown and has ended up with me.  She suffers with depression and is grieving from family deaths.  She left college last year due to not being about to cope because of her mental state.   She has no income whatsoever.  I am disabled and on benefits and help her whereever I can.  She has been applying for jobs and apprenticeships and gets knock back after knock back.  This is making her depression etc even worse.  She isnt coping very well at all.  Is there any financial help she can apply  for due to living away from home aged 17 ? Thank you

As a 17 year old without parental support she should be able to claim Universal Credit.
    See https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/eligibility
She will be entitled to £251.77/month less a deduction of 63% of any earnings she receives if she manages to get a job.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • As she is 17, she should be able to claim her own benefits. Go on entitled to on google and it should tell her what benefits she is entitled to.
  • As above, and is she getting help with her depression?

If she claims UC she definitely needs to make them aware of her depression; it sounds like it will probably affect her ability to work and that needs to be taken into account. She should get a fit note from the doctor, preferably for whenever she starts her claim.
