Confusion around time off due to virus

Hi.
I work for a large company where the Union has explained we will be paid if we need to self isolate/take time off with Covid- 19 symptoms.
I have worked for the company 9 years and have had one sick day in all that time. For the last two days I have been on leave (holiday) and have symptoms including:
.High temp
.Aching joints
.Headache
.Sore throat
On top of this i also have had diarrhoea. When I told my manager this she said that is not a symptom of cornavirus so come back to work tomorrow if feeling better.
My 5 year old son has been off school on Fri and Mon with same illness.
I'm not saying its coronavirus however arent we meant to stay at home for 14 days with the above symptoms? I am utterly confused and as I say I am not one for sick days. I think it is because we get full pay for time off that they are more wary however I have not been able to get out of bed or eaten for two days.
I am bored senseless however want to do the right thing as I would be working with not only colleagues but some of the role means I am sometimes customer facing.
Any advice welcome.

Are you persistently coughing? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
-
No the coughing is not a symptom of mine. Which is strange as I have had chest problems in the past.
So it probably IS NOT Covid 19 however the governments advice is not clear as it could be as I DO have the majority of the other symptoms.0 -
If you are unsure then there are steps you can take for guidance - online NHS portal for example. It sounds like you have 'similar' symptoms but what you states matches several other health issues, not necessarily COVID-19 - but obviously a forum can't advise on that.0
-
Of course. Thanks for your help.
My question was more about the employment part of it all. As in do I need to ask for a week or so off to be safe?0 -
You have a newly-onset high temperature. I would recommend working through the NHS111 guidelines as I believe that means you should now self-isolate for 7 days as you are ill. Your son would be the same if he also has a high temperature. For both of you this should be sick leave.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

if you are bored after two days being poorly, you aren't sick, sick
Ive had a dreadful cough the past three weeks, one Im working with, the the GVT said " got a cough, stay home"
Seriously I had in all probability infected everyone I know before that warning
Im in work. My colleagues and boss are aware I have a bad cough, they haven't decided to walk out to keep themselves safe
I know Im not sick enough to be off work, and I also know ( not for certain ) I don't have CV, so Im in work
If like one of my colleagues , you are going to use the implied diagnosis - good luck with that. One staff member who is faithful in bringing her child care needs to the fore to take time off ( hes got a snotty nose at the moment ) has just been issued the P450 -
What do you mean implied diagnosis? I have already said I haven't got a cough and told my manager that.suki1964 said:

I do not believe I have CV at all. However I definitely have some sort of bug. Also if you read my post I dont use childcare as an issue and have not had a sick day in years. What a strange and snotty response!0
