That moment
Tell us about your special travel moment: that unique experience that turned a holiday into an adventure; that revealing encounter that will stay with you forever. The time you saw a shooting star in Glencoe at 3am, perhaps. Or the day a group of Sumatran school children told you about their hopes and ambitions. Or the moment you first came face-to-face with a whale shark. In fewer than 500 words, tell us why the experience was so profound. You can include a photo or an illustration if you wish. We want to be inspired, impressed, moved. We want to know how travel really can broaden the mind

FIRST PRIZE
WIN A fabulous trip to Bhutan

The winner, courtesy of Gore-Tex®, will win a trip of a lifetime for two to the Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan. The £5,000 trek is organised by World Expeditions and uses local guides to follow Himalayan trails along the border with Tibet. You will explore monasteries and ancient forts, browse local markets, and encounter herds of yaks.
The prize includes return flights from the UK; all meals; airport transfers on Day 1 and Day 11; expert bilingual guide; good-quality accommodation in Paro/ Thimphu; a gear pack, including kit bag, sleeping bag, down- or fibre-filled jacket and insulated sleeping mat; all group camping equipment; private transportation; all park entrance fees and trekking permits; porters/animals to carry 20kg of personal equipment; and sightseeing and site entry fees. Dates to be agreed.
ITINERARY
• Day 1: arrive in Paro
• Day 2: visit Paro Dzong and Taktsang Monastery
• Days 3–8: ascend through the conifer and rhododendron forest to alpine pastures for views of Chomolhari, before crossing a series of passes to Phajoding Monastery above the Thimphu Valley
• Days 9–10: complete the trek to Thimphu, visit the Memorial Chorten and wander through the bazaars, then transfer to Paro
• Day 11: trip concludes in Paro
Cheers
