OK to book to USA for July?

My OH and I have saved hard to be able to afford to take our family to the USA in July 2020 and we are just about ready to book.  If we book now and take out insurance, will we get our money back of the Covid-19 thing is still ongoing?

I really do doubt that you would be able to get any insurance that covers you for coronavirus.

I doubt you'd get cover. If I were you I'd keep your money in the bank and plan for summer 2021 instead

Or wait and see what the situation is in July

Any new insurance policy is unlikely to cover you specifically for covid19 now.
To encourage new bookings airlines and travel companies are however offering very flexible waivers.  I would read these with your chosen airline to see if they suit your needs on flexibility.
  • Had a text from my bank today re travel insurance with my bank account  - any holiday booked from tomorrow (18th) will not be covered for Coronavirus.
  • Insurance won’t cover you. Also, before booking a trip, you need to apply for an Esta. The system is not issuing these at the moment so do not book.
Whereabouts in the USA are you planning on? I only ask as usually, there’s a lot of preparation involved and this seems quite last minute as you’ve been saving for a while?
