I’m a foster Carer and I look after a child that claims middle rate care DLA , am I right in thinking I can get back dated refund through not getting a discount on my council tax , thanks

I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
If the child uses a wheelchair indoors, or needs a separate bathroom, kitchen, or therapy room, your council should reduce your council tax to equal the band below. You would have to prove the date that this is from.

My council only give discount on council tax if property is modified, e.g. to acconodate a disabled person in a wheelchair. You may have to wait to make your claim.
