Boss refuses wife's request to work from home even though it is entirely feasible

Well that press conference was disappointing.
The chorus of questions about clarity over the need for employees to work from home if possible even if it meant against their employer's wishes was sidestepped by Matt Hancock.
Still as clear as mud

I agree but it's very difficult when the employer is requesting one.spiritus said:
I very much doubt that. The last thing GPs need now is hundreds of people demanding their time for a sick note.little_green said:apparently we're only allowed to self isolate at home if we have written note from GP stating it was advised by them to do so ....
I though it was upto the person themselves to determine if they self-isolate or not.0 -

By law, medical evidence is not required for the first 7 days of sickness. After 7 days, employers may use their discretion around the need for medical evidence if an employee is staying at home.
We strongly suggest that employers use their discretion around the need for medical evidence for a period of absence where an employee is advised to stay at home either as they are unwell themselves, or live with someone who is, in accordance with the public health advice issued by the government.
If evidence is required to cover self-isolation or household isolation beyond the first 7 days of absence then employees can get an isolation note from NHS 111 online or from the NHS website.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Yes but I think we are talking about two different things.little_green said:

I though it was upto the person themselves to determine if they self-isolate or not.- Self isolating because you have reason to believe you may have the virus OR someone in your household has
OR - Wanting to work remotely (knowing you can) but your boss refusing to allow you to
