Ticket accidentally parking in on street Disabled bay.

This morning I accidentally parked in a disabled bay in the street near work. I was in a hurry and genuinely did not see the markings in the road. I was about to pay up but noticed that there was no sign at all stating it was a disabled bay, just the road markings. All other disabled bays in the street have signs that state it is a disabled bay only. Do disabled bays have to have a sign or is it good enough to have the markings on the road to warrant a ticket. I have looked online but can't find anything about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Council issued or private parking company? If the latter, their name please. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Here is the bay with no signage apart from painted on the road.0 -
All other bays in the street have this sign by the bay. Mine has none.
