Cruise cancellation

Good morning
Due to go on a recent cruise, the company changed its T&Cs a few days before we left and allowed us to cancel and receive a full credit. As it happened, the voyage was terminated after a couple of days and the passengers disembarked. So, since the service I purchased was not actually supplied, may I now require a refund?

It looks as though you cancelled on the basis of a voucher, not a refund. The fact that things got worse after they sailed probably won't help you unless you have a very compliant member of staff when you call. Cruise lines, airlines and tour operators are doing everything they can to avoid paying refunds for very honest reason that they will go bust if everyone gets repaid.
  • Obviously I am happy to give them time to get through and sort things out. I was thinking more of the legal position in that they were in no position to supply the service I had purchased, if you see what I mean.

But you cancelled before that happened......

You elected to cancel based on the offer made under the cruise line's revised Ts&Cs.
The fact that the cruise was (presumably) curtailed by grossly adverse circumstances is irrelevant.
