O/S Daily Monday 16 March 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 has a couple of days holiday to use up, so he's still in his pit, I'm bathed, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Now light, dry underfoot but cloudy and dull start to the day.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, broc, leeks in cheese sauce, peas, yorkshires and gravy - only some mash and yorkshries LO, everything else was eaten, but the joint wasn't a big one - it was lovely though. Tonight it will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, my fish will be baked fish.
Back to work today am expecting to be busy - we have been the last few Mondays' - it's our busy time of the year. Also the current situation frightens people and they seem to come to us for answers/help!
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope it's not too busy for you.
Nice day yesterday but we couldn't get into the place we wanted to eat at so settled for somewhere else, we were the only ones in for a while. Lovely food and Sophie entertained us whilst trying the crust from my garlic bread! Glasgow was fairly quiet which made for easy shop browsing.
I sewed some of the dreaded Brownie badges on when I got home, only another 15 to go!
It'll be busy at work, I have to email all the passwords out in case the children have to work from home, it'll be a long and boring job but keeps me out of trouble.
Lovely pink sky out, hope there's not a storm brewing. Take care. XX

Morning,
Had a lovely evening out on Saturday night.
Have a load in the WM and will hang it out on the line as it is going to be a dry day.
Trying to keep positive about the coronavirus - most parts of the country now are affected, in some way.
Not sure if I will go to singing class as the room is always feels so hot to me - do not want to risk catching anything. I have to go to work. But just reducing my risk .
Take Care everyone

Good morning everyone
I had a bit of a teary night last night due to the current situation with the coronavirus. The constant reporting and dire warnings really got to me and I felt very panicky and anxious. Steve did his best to calm me down but I still feel very jittery today. We have had to cancel our big family gettogether and I was just so disappointed and a bit relieved at the same time. My mum isn't very well with a sore throat and temperature so she is staying at home and hopefully being looked after by her partner.
I tried to get an online delivery slot but there was none to be had. Steve said he would brave the supermarket for anything we need and to be honest we probably have enough food for a month or so anyway. We are going to take an inventory of all our freezers and cupboard stuff so I can plan meals properly.
Fortunately I have enough wool and card making stuff to keep me happily occupied for a long time
We are going to have hotdogs for tea but with proper sausages not the ones out of a tin. I also have some cheesecakes in the freezer which could do with being liberated. I can't wait to see what other 'treasures' will be revealed.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning and thank you for starting us off nmlc.
I'm about to hang out one load of washing and put in a second as we are forecast a sunny day. Once the frost melts, I'll try to do some gardening.
Concerned about the possibility of enforced isolation for the over 70s. I will just escape this but my neighbours have just returned after a 5 month stay abroad, bet they wish they hadn't. They would be confined to house and garden and will be utterly miserable.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -

I hope that your mum feels better soon!
I feel similar - that jittery unnerved feeling ...... I do tend to be an overthinker anyway. My mum has health issues so that is a concern too and my grandma is pretty weak especially after losing my grandad next year. I'm trying to bring out my home front spirit inspired by my Gran!
At work at 11 today ......... still no advice other than wash your hands. We won't shut as it is a challenging behaviour residential home but there has been no information about what will happen if one of the residents gets ill.
Laundry already busily washing away. Hoping to get a load on the radiators then wash another to put on the line. Tempted to pop to the shop too as we don't have many tins in.15 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC, hope work is not too bad for you. It's fine and sunny here, as was yesterday. We went out for a walk in the afternoon, we were glad to be out for a while. This morning, I'm going to visit a friend, and after that I suppose it will be the usual Monday, I'm expecting Dgd to visit after school.Like AOD, I'm concerned about possibly months of self isolating - I know we can use the internet for shopping, medication ordering and suchlike, but still, It's going to be strange. It's said to be for our own protection.though, so what can we do.Ruby, hope you're ok, and Nelski, will you have a terrorist visit?Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks.15

Morning
ScarletR - Good question...he is due today but everything seems so up in the air atm you're guess is as good as mine. Saying that I think he will as lets face it my self isolation for so long means I am hardly a risk to him (is boredom contagious!) but then if he sees lots of people then he's a risk to me. I see selfishness still reigns in our Great country Empty shelves and moans about the up and coming isolation. Its very sad. Dumpling can you maybe book a recurring slot at your supermarket I have done that with mine (Asda) but with mums (morrisons) they are allowing you be book ahead so I have 3 weeks of her preferred slot booked.
Talking of mum the poor dear has no hearing at the moment and of course ear problems are not a priority for the surgery. It means I can't speak to her and her TV is shaking the house its so loud. Can just hope it rights itself soon.
Food wise I had a lovely roast yesterday then its pea and ham soup with crusty bread today.
Hope you all have a good day and look after yourselves x15 -
Good morning folks. It's very bright and cold here, only 0 degrees outside. I've been showered and dressed ready for the builders, if they come.Yesterday I spent a very peaceful and productive hour cleaning my laptop keyboard with sellotape. There were crumbs underneath a couple of keys so I slid the tape in and moved it around, then I got a tiny brush and slid that in too. Very rewarding indeed, my spacebar now works properly again. There's plenty in the fridge and I am not listening to the news, anyone would think that the end of the world was happening. The other day I tried to make bircher oats, it was a disaster and had to be chucked out. The oats didn't take up any of the yogurt and were just plain, can't eat dry oats. Back to the book again. In good news...I managed to reach and cut the toenails on my right foot for the first time since 16 November
I'm so pleased, irordinately so for such a mundane task. Mind you, I felt it so won't rush to do it again for another few weeks. Still can't put on my sock or tie my shoe tightly - baby steps, it's all progress.
I hope that everyone is calm and peaceful. NELSKI - can your mum access the TV subtitles? My DM uses them as she very deaf, her TV is on permanent mute.Happy Monday to all.15 -
