Hi All,

I have brought a annual travel insurance policy for the family  but it doesnt start until 23rd March.  Does it still cover CV19?  It was brought and paid for mid Feb 2020?
I would presume it does as there was no mention of CV19 when I brought it.
Now of course is a different matter......I do have current travel insurance in place but as they are not able to cover my son under the family policy as he turns 18 in March I decided to buy a policy which did.  I do have the option to stay with my current provider but my son wouldnt then be covered for CV19.
I have written to Colombus and am waiting for them to reply.

Can anyone advise?

Many thanks

Why would you buy a policy in mid-February for cover from 23rd March?   Was this because you had an existing policy that expired 22nd March?

This is what their website states.  I am reading it that I AM covered because it was brought and paid for 4 weeks ago

    Coronavirus FAQs

Columbus Direct has been closely monitoring the constantly evolving situation and impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak and has managed to maintain its extensive cover in our policies for related claims for as many customers as we can.

Regrettably, we have had to take the decision to no longer provide cover in respect of the coronavirus for any new policies purchased after 23:59 on 13th March 2020. This will impact existing policies that will be renewed after this time. Please see the FAQs below for information on how the cover has changed.

Yes, that is correct. However I do have the option to carry on my current annual policy but my 18 year old son would then NOT be covered.

Has anyone got any further comments please. Getting myself worried about the word purchase (brought mid Feb) and policy start date which is 23 March. I have no intention of cancelling and I have a package with Trailfinders. We are due to go July 2020.

    Many thanks

Columbus have confirmed that I am NOT covered for CV even though I brought the policy over a month ago.  They claim that the NEW Terms and Conditions now have CV excluded.  I have all the policy documents and the policy has been issued already.  Does this sound right?  I have not had any correspondence from them stating that cover is now limited.  If I hadn’t called I would be none the wiser.  I do have another insurance policy which is due to lapse but I haven’t cancelled it yet. It covers CV but not my 18 year old son.

    Any advice?

I had an email from my insurers (Insure & Go) on 13/03/2020 regarding an annual policy I bought in Jan 2020.  It said that any booking made prior to 13/03/2020 WOULD be covered for coronavirus, but any bookings made after that date WOULD NOT be covered for as it is now a 'known risk'.  When did you book the holiday?
