Mortgage broker hard search

Hello
I did a few AIPs myself which haven't shown on my report as they were soft searches. I have gone with a broker just to avoid the paperwork really and for a smoother process and just got my updated credit file and it seems she has done a hard search with natwest and this has lowered my score. I havent found a property yet so havent applied for my mortgage.

Is this usual or will it be an issue?
Thanks

I'm not a broker, but I thought that all brokers submit a case which results in a hard search?

Oh right i see i didnt know this. Was just worried as my score lowered and she had warned me about using anything like a price comparison which would do a hard search and may affect a lender lending.

Your made up 'score' is irrelevant. The only person that sees it is you.
  • All full mortgage applications are hard searches but majority of mainstream lenders do soft searches on DIP for brokers.

Natwest is a funny one where they do soft search through their own branches, but a hard search through brokers.  1 or 2 hard searches wouldn't be an issue though so i wouldn't worry about it.
