Deleted_User said:So now we know the government are planning to shut up all over 70's for up to 4 months. Just how do they think we are going to manage???? How do we get cash? Prescriptions etc. We can order our groceries and also medication on the internet. Not everyone can. They tell us not to keep large amounts of money in the house, but I do not see what other course we have. Our library van will not run which will leave us with no access to books.......although we can read books on line.
we can get out into the garden if the weather is ok, our neighbours are far enough away, but the ground is so wet there is actually very little we can do out there.
Just listening to Matt Hancock, the government have not thought this through, its very piecemeal and he is not answering questions. We are entitled to know what exactly we are in for and why. 4 months seems an excessive length of time to me. Perhaps the government should explain why.
It was raining when we got up, but it appears to be drying up......I did think about putting a coloured load in the washer, but changed my mind.
Supper tonight roast pork, roast spuds, brussels, cauli and carrots. Possibly sponge pudding for dessert.
I think the worst thing is that we all feel so helpless ☹️On a brighter note - it is not raining.
Thank you all for ‘listening’

Sorry. I'm late today
Csarina, I do agree. And why 70. It seems so arbitrary. And totally unenforceable, unless they insist on anyone who looks old carrying their birth certificate at all times.
Meanwhile we're trying to carry on as normal, as much as we can. I've had a text to say yoga is still on tomorrow, so I will go. Better try to keep moving while I can.
I know there are lots of people here who need access to NHS services for themselves or close relatives. I do hope all this doesn't cause problems for you all
Happy bemused Sunday everyone10 -
Afternoon all,
Our children have decided that we are not to go anywhere except around the garden and fields for fresh air..........they are doing any food shopping we need in the village shop, two pubs there are now closed.
OH is due for a Warfarin test in local hospital in the morning, will try to get through to them to see if clinic is open.
Covid 19 is taking up so much of our lives now that I will just wish you all a serene weekend., Please take no risks with your health

I came back on to rant about the sweeping decision to contain all over 70's in their homes in solitary confinement, for possibly 4 months, but the more I think about it the more it upsets me. It's thanks to the support I have had from my immediate family and close friends that I have got through the 15 months since I lost Bob and thoughts of 4 months in total isolation has knocked me back to rock bottom. I just hope they can come up with a better solution than this."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9

I have long thought that the government would like to give all over pensionable age an injection and drop us off the planet, They just do not want us to live any kind of life in old age!! How much cash would they save??? The government are treating us like cattle. BJ should go into quarantine for 4 months see how he likes it. The chap on TV this morning never answered a question he just repeated over and over again what he said in the first place. So disrespectful.
Sorry for the rant but the whole things and the way it has been handled is awful.

Sorry to have gone missing so soon after joining, but I've got myself in a ridiculous tizz reading coronavirus news and thought the last thing you all needed was me being a Debbie Downer. I am the only local relative keeping an eye on my ninety year old Mum, but I am a couple of miles away, she lives alone has no internet and refuses to stockpile anything. Anyway, the good news is I've been tidying and have found both wool and needles that I didn't realised I had, I think it wouldn't do me any harm to take up knitting again!7

TA I really don't think it's been thought through at all. Lots of 70+ people will be confined to one house and one garden, if they're lucky enough to have a garden, and that sounds like a recipe for disaster, both physically and psychologically.
I really hope they will think again or the NHS will be swamped with seized up, stir-crazy old folk , me amongst them!

Afternoon all.The A4 paper arrived early this afternoon and I've been waiting for a friend of DM's to deliver birthday chocs. She turned up at about 4.45p.m though I wouldn't let her in. She's been travelling extensively so I'm not taking any chances. Mind you, I drove her home as she had walked in the cold sunshine. There are lots of people outside getting a small dose of Vit D while it lasts.I enjoyed my short trip and also managed to get my car back in the 'correct' place outside. The roadworks haven't finished yet though the three-way traffic controls are gone, just a long stretch of tarmac still to be replaced.I hope that everyone enjoys a good evening.4
