Section 75 for a kitchen over £30,000

Options
I want to buy a kitchen over £30k but am concerned that section 75 won’t cover me if I pay on my credit card. I’m told that section 75 only covers purchases below £30k

So, if I pay £30k of the kitchen on a credit card and the remainder by another method would the £30k be covered by section 75?

Thanks

No it is the total cost that counts.

You could split it into two totally separate contracts eg £20k for the unit fitting and separately £15 k (say) for the flooring and decoration. Get separate quotes for each part.

Pay for each part separately, on different cards if possible, on different days!

Have a think abount the best way to split it.

Limit on card is a moot point as far as S75 goes.
OP could put 1 pence on the CC and pay the rest via any other means (so long as they have proof of payment). Then so long as the purchase falls with in the £100 to £30K limit. S75 applies.

Thanks. You are correct. But was only asking as the OP appears to want a kitchen over £30k pay that on credit card and the rest by other payment?

If limit of card is £30k all will be well.

    No.
S75 is a purchase limit. It has nothing to do with the limit on your card.
Once you spend over £30K there is NO S75 protection.

Tildaplum idea is the only way to get round the limit. But if you did it all on the same card and they get a sniff on the back of a S75 claim that it is all for the same purchase. It will be declined.

Spoken to people have said that the £5K was a deposit on a house... Question. How much was the house. £100K. Sorry no cover.

Yes. I do know that as I implied it before.

Perhaps I am not making my self clear to you enough?

OP has said £30k on card and rest other payments.

I asked what is limit on card? If OP does not have a £30k limit then there may be a problem using the card if it has a lower limit. As op will not have enough to purchase kitchen?

Perhaps I am in the minority as my card does not have a £30k limit.

I assume though that yours does?

Thought my original question was quite simple asking the OP the limit on his card?

Did not see a discussion on section 75 getting started.  :)
