How could I disinfect my prescription glasses without chemicals?

I don't want to use any harsh chemicals on the frames as A) they might get damaged, and "B)" they could leave a residue that could irritate the skin that comes into contact with it (bleach sounds like a very bad idea).
The optician has said that they don't recommend washing up liquid as it could damage the coating (!), but I really think that's just because they want to sell their own cleaner. It would probably take a lot of scrubbing to get rid of viruses though, and that might scratch the glasses.
Would putting the glasses on a food steamer for 5 minutes kill viruses off the frames?

Might damage the coating though .id give it a good swish and sponge with washing up liquid1

60% alcohol in hand gel is what is recommended to kill virus's so I'd suggest a dab of vodka on cotton wool and wipe frames with that1

Some types of spectacle cleaning spray is largely iso propyl alcohol.....1

You can get spectavcle and lens wipes that have alcohol in them, they were recommending them on the tv the other day as the best thing to clean mobile phones with for killing the virus - I got some yesterday at our local shopping centre a box of 52 for 99p, check though as they don't all contain alchoholFibro-Warrior0

I would say Cutan foaming hand sanitiser if you are wanting rid of bugs too and not just general cleaning I am assuming at the moment. It does have alcohol in though but isn’t sticky o like the gels. Whether you can even get this right now would be the question as I doubt it. With a micro fibre cloth? It appears very gentle, so I think would be fine....however...see below. It what we have at work (nhs) and I am always using it to clean glasses, no complaints as yetDisclaimer.....I am not an expert on glasses so you would have to check out the contents.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0

If you're close enough to someone to have corona virus on your glasses then you're close enough to have it all over your face and to have breathed it in. Where are your glasses going to be that you're not?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
If its Covid-!9 you are wishing to kill - Soap
Soap breaks it down. Doesn't need to be anti bac or 60% alcohol , just plain household soap1 -
I can't say I've thought of cleaning my glasses, but Milton kills coronavirus according to the packaging if that is what you are thinking off.
