Tel. call to DFDS Supervisor 13/03/2020 to cancel booking because of CORONA VIRUS outbreak.
Very disappointed to hear that they would not refund my booking (3 months in advance).
The countries we are travelling to have just declared a State of Emergency. No way it is advisable to travel in this uncertain situation.
I left it as a Credit Note offer with DFDS for travel until March 2021.

In the meantime, I will go public on the Internet/Newspapers etc. and widespread to publish this poor DFDS condition and awful Customer service (13p/minute call) .
People booking with DFDS should be warned. We travelled with DFDS for many years (last April 2018) and might not use them again. Customer loyalty means nothing.

Travel Insurance claim is no option for me.

Your choice not to travel, you accept the consequences.-1 -
3 months is very premature. We have no idea how things will look then. We could be resuming normal travel or we could be in lockdown. Nobody can say.0

DFDS have a comprehensive help page on their website regarding Coronavirus https://www.dfds.com/en/passenger-ferries/corona-virus?utm_source=optimise&utm_medium=corona_button_int&utm_campaign=corona_info_button
Specifically:What are the refund policies in the current situation? For travel until 30th of April 2020, DFDS offers two alternatives:
• Free rebooking (no amendment fees apply). If the new ticket is more expensive than the original ticket, the customer will pay the difference.
• Free cancellation (no amendment fees apply) and a travel credit equivalent to the ticket price will be issued and can be used as payment on future sailings.
• In order for the above to come into effect, the customer must advise us latest 24 hours before departure
• Travel Credits expire 31 Dec 2020 and travel must be conducted latest 30 March 2021
• The travel credit is a personal travel credit and cannot be transferred to others
• This goes for individual bookings independently of booking channel (direct or 3rd parties)
• The above goes for all routes and is for ferry crossings onlySo at the moment they are allowing amendments for travel upto 30th April, but they’ve made an exception for you and are allowing you to take travel credit even though you’re booking is for June0 -
Going to the papers for a rant at the moment is the funniest thing about this. We won't have a news day slow enough for weeks, possibly months. No one's going to be interested in your petulant complaint.1
