Octopus - current customer considering Agile or Go tariffs
I've recently switched over to Octopus, and am considering moving to one of their innovative tariffs, either Agile or Go.
For context, it's just the 2 of us, GCH, gas hob, electric oven, we're out of the house 8:00-18:00 Mon-Fri, and have pretty normal electricity usage. I'm more tha happy to use timers/smart devices to try and shift electricity usage overnight, where possible.
Are there any tools which might help me consider which of the tariffs to opt for? Any ways to model which tariff would best suit?

Easy choice based on what you've said...Do you have an EV that you need to recharge every night? If so then Go is likely to be a good choice for you.If not then Agile is most likely to work out best. The EV is the key point, because without an electric vehicle being recharged every night you will struggle to use enough energy in the critical 00:30-4:30 period to counterbalance the higher day-time tariff when compared to Agile. You miss most of the peak rate period on Agile (16:00-19:00) as you are out, and the rest of the time it is rare to see Agile even close to the day rate on the Go tariff. As for modelling, if you are already on a smart meter then use your actual usage against the published Agile daily rates, you can capture that data using their API.0

Worth looking in to their tracker tariff too IMHO, it's like agile but price changes only once a day, not every half hour, gas can be in same system. The idea is your rates are tied to the day ahead action prices for power

I moved over to the Agile tariff last October, and I've generally had no issues with it.
Single, Gas CH and hob, electric oven also. Tend to be out weekdays 0730-1830. I timeshift the washing machine to the early hours where possible, but sometimes can't avoid the 1600-1900 peak period for cooking at weekends.
Saw my monthly electricity bill fall from £34/month to around £21/month. The average p/kWh works out between 9.5p - 10.5p over the last six months.43581
