What's the point in posting this when there's already a long running thread about this?

Because that's what MSE Towers always do - a new thing happens, the forum reports on it, and a day or so later, MSE runs a story on it. And they start a thread about 'their' story. Go figure!deadendwaterfall said:What's the point in posting this when there's already a long running thread about this?
The original existing thread is here for those who missed it: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/61133227 -
This forum doesn't belong to the posters, and the official owners need to evaluate new information before going public. This takes time so there will always be some overlap.0

You're missing the point. There is already a thread. MSE don't have to start a new one when they write an article. They just need to link to the existing one, inserting a note in the opening post if they feel a need to link back. There is no need for overlap at all. Overlap just dilutes and confuses the discussion - the opposite of what the forum is for. the 'official owners' should be well aware of this!!Ken68 said:This forum doesn't belong to the posters, and the official owners need to evaluate new information before going public. I've said this before but this is how the website software works: They create an article and a thread will be automatically created for that article.

Perhaps, but in that case I'm sure they could turn off that facility if they wanted. Or, if they can't, they could delete the extraneous thread afterwards. The implication, as they always do this, is that they don't see it as a problem, or are simply unaware they are duplicating existing threads. It comes across as clumsy and ill-thought out forum management.binaryuniverse said:I've said this before but this is how the website software works: They create an article and a thread will be automatically created for that article.
[Edited to add: I think it highly unlikely that the threads are inevitably auto generated. MSE regularly post news items, but I don't think all end up as threads. There would be loads of extra threads! And MSE would have to tell the system which board (of many dozens) to post on, so it would need interaction and human decision-making. Plus the software has just been completely changed - with numerous behavioural changes, but this odd behaviour continues.. So I really don't think this is auto-generation. Just my view, obvs! But my view as someone who does administer websites... ]3 -

Many of us have letters from Halifax which give us a different date, i.e. June 1 2020.The changes now apply from 1st July 2020.

Maybe the 1st July date applies to newly opened Halifax Reward Current Accounts and the 1st June date applies to the old Halifax Reward Current Accounts that we all have.

That is it. At some point the Halifax website will have been updated to confirm the upcoming changes. Any accounts opened before then will receive a letter to vary the terms and conditions. Accounts opened once the website was updated already agreed to the upcoming terms at the later date.where_are_we said:Maybe the 1st July date applies to newly opened Halifax Reward Current Accounts and the 1st June date applies to the old Halifax Reward Current Accounts that we all have.1
