The only figure that you can really trust is mortality per head of population.
I can't get hold of any paracetamol either. If/when I get it, I'll be using a fan and ice packs.0 -

It tells you how many deaths are being caused by Covid-19 per head of population. Some of those people would have died anyway, but it is a good indicator as to the extent of the spread of the virus. It's a much better indicator than the number of positive tests.0

No testing no nothing. In a few words stay home, take your chances and if you die you died.
I am at an absolute aue as to what to do from here.
Unless we have been in direct contact with someone with CONFIRMED CV, they are not testing everyone. They are restricting the testing.
I don't know why.
We are now at a situation where we basically have no idea how many people have this, because many aren't being allowed to officially state they do in effect (ie by taking the test and it proves positive).
With that, I admit to being at a bit of a loss as to how they are going to tell when it's all on the road to being over and done with and we can all get back to normal.
The reason why they would like to do it is that it would give them much more data allowing them to better understand the virus, and make much better decisions to fight the beasty. The big unknown is how many people have the virus but show little or no symptoms.
As for the OP, basically the vast majority of healthy people who catch it will be fine after a few weeks. There is nothing the NHS can do to help as there is no cure. Some people with underlying health issues may suffer significantly, and they may require hospitalisation to manage the symptoms. The NHS web site will give full details. They have sent out letters to the most vulnerable telling them to hide away and avoid contact with other people.
The reason f9r the shutdown is to reduce the spread, allowing the NHS to cope without being overwhelmed, and hence save lives. It isn’t a case of “we don’t care, go away and die”. 🙂1 -
The NHS are using private hospitals for extra facilities.
The only people who are hospitalised are those with breathing difficulties so they can be given oxygen.
You are safer at home. Have you seen the shots of rows of beds in a ward.?1
