Hi guys, so called nhs 11 yesterday to get tested as i developed symptoms of the covid and all they told me was stay home and isolate, you should be fine. No testing no nothing. In a few words stay home, take your chances and if you die you died.
I am at an absolute aue as to what to do from here.

Stay at home until you are better you won't be tested unless you need hospital treatment which is not likely unless you are elderly or have serious health issues

Calm down. Drink fluid, take paracetamol
I am in exactly the same boat.
Unless we have been in direct contact with someone with CONFIRMED CV, they are not testing everyone. They are restricting the testing.
    I don't know why.

There are many more people in this situation

That is so worrying, as I have another condition, called adrenal insufficiency, basically, ii have a bad immune system. This could get bad very fast. Wondering if I went to a private hospital rather than wait to get worse. Very frustrating.

Unless you are very ill you do not need to burden a hospital. Keep your phone close and call 111, 999 or your GP if needed. Otherwise get on your sofa with your duvet and wait it out

Cynics thought for the day = what they don't know doesn't count towards the figures.

We are now at a situation where we basically have no idea how many people have this, because many aren't being allowed to officially state they do in effect (ie by taking the test and it proves positive).

With that, I admit to being at a bit of a loss as to how they are going to tell when it's all on the road to being over and done with and we can all get back to normal.

Personally, in your position (ie with a bad immune system), I'd be checking for myself against the online info. as to whether I thought my symptoms match this and, if they did, I would probably go to a private hospital (using appropriate protection for the sake of other people obviously).

It would be wise to ring the local private hospital first and see what they have to say about this, ie starting with how much they will charge you for this service. I'd be hazarding a guess at expecting a figure in the region of £100-£200 - but I could be way off on that figure.

Sorry that you are sick and scared OP but I am sure the advice was Not stay at home and die . If you become seriously ill requiring supportive therapy / intensive care I am pretty sure that people in HAZ suits will come and get you . The hospital beds are being kept for you IF you need one .
Even if you test positive you will not be admitted unless you have to be . That is good news because you know if YOU do end up needing hospital care there will be bed / staff for you , not all taken up be people who could be resting at home .
Hopefully you will be well in a few days .

I'm in the same boat: stay at home, take paracetamol (if you were able to get any), drink.
No tests, so you don't know if you have it or not.
And, assuming you do get better, you then won't know if you've had it or not and thus whether it's safe to go out.
They didn't ask for my details, so my visit to the website is not recorded.
Further, the statistics must be wildly inaccurate if people aren't being tested or even recorded.

Yesterday I had a Populus survey about this, general health, age and any extra potential risks. The key questions were clearly trying to identify both the vulnerable and those with slight symptoms.
