Hi guys, so called nhs 11 yesterday to get tested as i developed symptoms of the covid and all they told me was stay home and isolate, you should be fine. No testing no nothing. In a few words stay home, take your chances and if you die you died.
I am at an absolute aue as to what to do from here.

Stay at home until you are better you won't be tested unless you need hospital treatment which is not likely unless you are elderly or have serious health issues2

I am in exactly the same boat.
Unless we have been in direct contact with someone with CONFIRMED CV, they are not testing everyone. They are restricting the testing.
I don't know why.
There are many more people in this situation

Unless you are very ill you do not need to burden a hospital. Keep your phone close and call 111, 999 or your GP if needed. Otherwise get on your sofa with your duvet and wait it out3

We are now at a situation where we basically have no idea how many people have this, because many aren't being allowed to officially state they do in effect (ie by taking the test and it proves positive).
With that, I admit to being at a bit of a loss as to how they are going to tell when it's all on the road to being over and done with and we can all get back to normal.

It would be wise to ring the local private hospital first and see what they have to say about this, ie starting with how much they will charge you for this service. I'd be hazarding a guess at expecting a figure in the region of £100-£200 - but I could be way off on that figure.

Most of us are going to contract this virus in the next six months.
Leave the medical services free to treat those most in need.
To date, only 1 in 70 people have been tested positive.
The Government will be able to estimate the number of cases based on claims for SSP, use of NHS 111, and tests of people who are treated.
Trying to test everyone with symptoms would be an unmanageable drain on resources. And it would require unnecessary contact between the infected and others, possibly spreading the virus more quickly.7 -
Sorry that you are sick and scared OP but I am sure the advice was Not stay at home and die . If you become seriously ill requiring supportive therapy / intensive care I am pretty sure that people in HAZ suits will come and get you . The hospital beds are being kept for you IF you need one .Even if you test positive you will not be admitted unless you have to be . That is good news because you know if YOU do end up needing hospital care there will be bed / staff for you , not all taken up be people who could be resting at home .Hopefully you will be well in a few days .3

I'm in the same boat: stay at home, take paracetamol (if you were able to get any), drink. No tests, so you don't know if you have it or not. And, assuming you do get better, you then won't know if you've had it or not and thus whether it's safe to go out. They didn't ask for my details, so my visit to the website is not recorded.Further, the statistics must be wildly inaccurate if people aren't being tested or even recorded.
