PPI Claim but no paperwork signed

Hi,
A few months ago I decided to use myppirefund.co.uk to put forward a claim for any miss sold PPI owed to me. I only got as far as a phone call where I gave over some basic details (name, banks I have had accounts with and my contact details) and they said they would send me a pack which I had to sign and return to them. I received the pack but decided not to bother filling it out and returning as I thought it was probably all a waste of time any way. They then resent the paper work which I again ignored and just left in a draw and forgot about the whole thing. Then about a week ago out of the blue I received two cheques directly from Barclays. Then about 2 days later I received a letter from myppirefund.co.uk requesting payment of their fees. I have done a bit of research and everything I find says that they should not have gone forward with my claim without a signed letter of authority. I have definitely not signed anything and was hoping someone could confirm where I stand with this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ask them to produce a signed contract.  If they can't, you don't need to pay.

You'll receive new and exciting offers from other claims company now that your details are on the suckers list, so make sure you don't respond to them.
  • That was my thinking, it just gets a bit worrying when you get letters requesting £100's

You need to contact Barclays and request a copy of the letter of authority as they won’t (or shouldn’t) have acted without one

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • Didn't think of that, will do.  Thank you
