Staysure travel disruption extension.

Received an email yesterday from Staysure about travel disruption owing to Coronavirus. They offer you the opportunity to add extra cover if this is not already in place. Seem a good offer but I cannot log on to check my policy as the website is not responding, tried to call but surprise surprise they are not taking calls. Anyone else having similar problems ?

Yes, had exactly the same issue. Have fired off an email to them stating my intent to upgrade as suggested. Whether it's legally binding is very debatable, but poor show to not be able to keep a website up.

Just been told that this morning Staysure have announced that they will not give additional cover to any client who is travelling before 1st June.So they email you yesterday to say you can update your insurance, not allow you to do so by any means

and then make a decision which will affect thousands of people who have been loyal clients of Staysure. An absolutely appalling way to treat your customers and to handle a situation which is already stressful in itself. I am due to go to Spain next Wednesday and am now just waiting to lose hundreds of pounds of my hard earned money. Poor show Staysure and Ryan Howsam should be ashamed at agreeing to that email being issued yesterday and then issuing a uturn for hundreds of clients who will be travelling before 1st June.

When you see the offer it's not quite the panacea you might think.  You can only take out get travel disruption cover if you travel to a country which doesn't yet have any confirmed cases of CV.

We are travelling to USA  in mid June and have been trying to log on and phone Staysure for the bolt on.   But will it be worthless then if Corona Virus as we know is already there and would they have pointed that out.  I agree its shocking how they are wriggling out of everything

If you look at the detail in the Staysure policy they also only cover FCO "don't travel" advisories for fire, flood, earthquake and hurricane.  FCO advice not to travel due to health risks is not covered on their policy.  In fact they specifically exclude the type of travel ban implemented in Italy.  I think many of us will be looking much more closely at the small print in future.

This is a copy of the email I received on Thursday (If your current policy already has our Travel Disruption Extension cover on it, then you are covered for travel disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic as explained in your policy document.

As an existing customer without Travel Disruption Extension cover, you can add this to your current policy by registering and/or logging into your My Staysure Account and adding the appropriate cover option to your policy. If you do this online via My Staysure, no administration fee will be added.  Since I received this email I have not been able to get on the website or telephone.  Then I saw this message

You only find out how good your insurance company is when you need to make a claim. HOW TRUE IS THIS STATEMENT STAY SURE A DISGRACE.
