You might find that it passes without any issues.A few years back, I owned an LDV Convoy and took it for an MOT at a supposedly reputable commercial vehicle workshop. They failed it on 3 things including king pins excessively worn and badly corroded brake pipes. Now, funny thing is, they replaced them for the previous MOT 5000 miles previously.I booked the van in at the Council workshops for the next day and it sailed through the MOT with no advisories. In fact, it passed the next 3 MOTs without any advisories (all done at the workshop for the County Fire Service as the Council place had been handed over to a private company).
Yup, I always use the local council MOT centre. I usually book a slot first thing in the morning and a service the same day. Had a couple of interesting conversations with garages telling me stuff like "ooh them bushes would definitely fail the MOT", when it just passed the MOT a couple of hours earlier :-)

So are you suggesting that the OP takes an unsafe vehicle that is illegal to drive on the road to get it tested?patman99 said:Take it to a local MOT centre and get them to MOT it. You might find that it passes without any issues.
If they were to be involved in an accident and the status of their vehicle was discovered by the police, the OP risks a fairly hefty fine and 3 points (I think) on their licence.0 -

£215, 2 hours labour, parts around £20, that includes the test fee. He's not 100% sure about the emissions yet but is going to try an "Italian Tune Up"
