Just seen ML on This Morning, I'm not a panicker but I have a holiday booked 22 May to Turkey, 70 day away, I can cancel today and lose £400 or defer until September but its an extra £390! So no difference, really unsure what to do? Is anyone else just waiting it out? I have insurance via my bank with Halifax. I'ts an expensive (for us) holiday. Do I cut my losses and lose £400 or wait.........crystal ball readers especially welcome to comment!!!!!

Why on earth would you cancel and lose money when it may get to the point the tour operator cancel it anyway and give you a full refund?
Common sense going out the window on MSE of late.4 -
What if they don't though?0

Then you will be paying the extra £390 for September if you don't want to go in May, don't cancel now and the September trip goes ahead.0

We've got a holiday booked in Turkey for June and I'm really hoping it goes ahead. I haven't checked this morning but as of yesterday, Turkey had no cases of coronavirus. That probably means they could be in the middle of it by next month BUT, they would have the benefit of learning from China, Italy and other countries that have been there before.
Personally I'm waiting on FO advice which I don't expect until nearer the time. If they say I can't travel then I'll have to lump it but otherwise I plan to go.
Are you saying that you don't want to go so want to cut your losses?
If you're happy to go then I can't see what you've got to lose by waiting for FO advice/cancellation by your supplier.

Not sure what you mean? I'm sorry I might sound thick, nothing like this has ever happened before so I genuinely don't know what to do?Aylesbury_Duck said:Then you will be paying the extra £390 for September if you don't cancel now and the September trip goes ahead.0 -
It means that you have two choices now, action or inaction, which generate their own scenarios.
Action
Cancel now, you lose £400.
Switch to September now, you pay £390 more.
Inaction
If May is cancelled by the operator, you get a refund.
If May goes ahead and you decide not to go, you lose whatever the terms say you lose (at least £400 by the sound of it).
If you get ill before departure, you may be able to claim on your insurance but you'd have to provide proof.
It goes ahead in May and you enjoy your holiday.

Is it true - (someone told me) that if the FTA say Turkey is fine - but Turkey say no its not - were does that leave me? Do the FTA go hand in hand with the country? Does that make sense?
This is what is confusing me - I'm happy to go...I just would hate to lose money.0 -
Then if the financial consideration is your primary one, sit tight. At best you go on holiday, at worst you get a refund. In either situation you're no worse off.1
