I really think a Headteacher / Chair of Governors will be sympathetic.

I previously lived what I thought was a good distance from a school; there was a tube line and fields in between the two. Whilst trying to work from home one summers day I was beset by noise from sports day, which made both concentrating on documents and professional TCs impossible. It wasn't the kids' cheering that bothered me, it was the megaphone-happy sports teacher, and that was with closed windows! I'm pretty sure the school had no idea until I rang in to ask the sports teacher to dial it down.

Thank heavens it was just once a year.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

most councils now have a noise app and have to take into account loud music that is an unacceptable level. It worked for me as my neighbours eventually moved out. I didn't want that and was only trying to stop the loud parties every weekend, but they were sent a swift letter from the council after the music was above a certain decibel for a prolongued period of time.

The O.P has never returned to both threads (s)he started. Why ask for advice then not bother replying to questions which may be of some benefit?
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.

I notice the OP has also returned a few months later to threads they've started and removed their subsequent posts.

Anyway, it looks like they'll have much more to worry about in the next few months than some short-term noise, regardless of the source!

I have been ill, thats why I've havent been back,  Evironmental health are saying because it's 9-5 they can't do anything but thery are coming to listen this week anyway.  I just wanted to know if anyone knows if the 9-5 policy was correct  as it seem to contradict the gov information. I.E impacting health.
The homes were here before the school.
The headteacher will not come to listen.
The music is much louder than the children playing etc, the bass goes right thorugh my house (about 150 metres away as a guess). My neighbour has complianed, I am dreading any nice sunny days as unable to sit out out lunchtime in peace.
Please be nice! Im feeling a fragile.

  • I think school noise is Okay, they need it. It's not private house, but public institution, where children study.

Well, that's positive. Is it a council run school? The Headteacher might listen to an EHO, but if not, try to get a written evaluation from whoever listens, and if it's in your favour, send it to the governors.

If you can hear the bass through closed windows from 150 metres that is ridiculous and completely unnecessary. The headteacher sounds like an idiot, refusing to consider your complaint and listen to the disturbance confirms it. Good luck with environmental health.
Knock on as many doors as possible, people are often reluctant to complain about noise but will comment as part of a group.

If/when your children are studying, perhaps they could use the local library or their own school/college library to study in?
