Solicitor " i am just waiting to hear back from the lender on 2 points confirmed to them"?

My solicitor has said "i  am just waiting to hear back from the lender on 2 points confirmed to them"

What does that actually mean, what types of things do the solicitors ask the lenders?

    Could be anything really, you know more about the transaction than we do. Possibly covering off minor points which don't quite match the lender's ideal position or comments by their surveyor e.g. lack of consents for ancient alterations. Easiest just to ask your solicitor rather than speculating.

    Remember, the solicitor acts for the lender as well as for you. He has a duty to them to ensure they're aware of anything that comes up during the conveyancing which might affect their decision to lend - because it might affect whether the property is good security for the loan.

    What could that be...? <shrug> How long's a piece of string...? There's a lot of things...

    The question you've asked doesn't really relate to the answer.  

    The solicitors job is to confirm that everything is place to satisfy the mortgage company's lending criteria.   So the solicitor is writing to confirm... but it sounds like they are waiting for a 'go ahead' on two specific points which may have not quite met criteria straight off the bat, but could be made to do so with an indemnity policy (as an example) or by requesting more information from the vendor.
