My parents used laterooms.com and stayed in the manin street deluxe B&B. It was very reasonable and they said it was lovely and it had a wonderful steam/power shower.

it depends where u wanna be!!!! it is peak season now so u aint gonna get anything cheap.... I like to stay a bit out of town its a little cheaper if you gonna stay in central area then dont stay near termini station its dodgy by day dont wanna know what its like by night.

i stayed at the holiday inn giovanni its about 4 stops or so from termini underground station theres a night bus etc.... its about a 5-10 min walk from the station though. The breakfast is very gud there too. i booked via the holiday inn site and they promise its the lowest price anywhere....

    Hi there

We went last September which is classed as peak season. Stayed in the Marcella Royal hotel, check out the reviews on trip advisor, http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d203172-Reviews-Marcella_Royal_Hotel-Rome_Lazio.html

Excellent location, can walk to most sites within 10-20 mins, or get a metro very easily. Excellent staff and very friendly, you also have a bar on top of the hotel, with great views at night (you also have breakfast there in the morning). I booked online, cheapest place by far was http://www.roma-hotels.com

Let me know if you need any further info, still quite fresh in my mind as only went quite recently - fab city!

thanks. I'll look into your recommendations. I was planning to go in October this year or maybe March next year. Want to be fairly close to town as I have a 3 year old and will therefore probably want to break up the day with a return to the hotel which would be a pain if it was too far away from the sites. Also needs to be a nice hotel because, again with a 3 year old, we will not be staying out late at night so want somewhere comfortable and pleasant to spend the evening in, maybe offerring decent food in-house.

    cheers,
