    More information required.
Was this booked on the hotel website or a third party?
What did they say when they informed you of the cancellation?
Was this a mistake with the rate and importantly did you know/try it on?
    Which hotel and what rate?
  • I hope you’ve got travel insurance.  Trump is making an announcement of some sort tonight apparently that might mean it will pay out.
  • Nope, never Mind!
  • Hi my daughter has booked a hotel through booking.com in Bruges for the 29th of March
the hotel has cancelled the booking as a precaution due to the Corona virus they have refused a refund saying they can book again later in the year. This surely can’t be right can it ?

@shaun63 : That situation should not arise and your daughter should certainly be offered a refund.  Booking.com may be difficult to reach at the moment but if approached and told the situation I feel sure they will put the hotel right on their obligations to cancel the reservation and permit a refund rather than a credit voucher.  If your daughter has an email from the hotel confirming the closure, that might help.

I do foresee more businesses offering the deferment of a service or a credit voucher as this situation progresses. Businesses simply will not have cash reserves to refund and get through the next few months of poor/no trading.
