Transporting Car between Arnold Clark Branches
Hi, We are based in Newcastle and are interested in a car that is on Arnold Clark's website, but in their York branch. We have called the branch today to see about getting the car brought up to our nearest branch for a test drive. We have paid £100 to get the car taken 'off sale' for the moment, and are discussing having it moved up next week with the salesman from York. We have been sent an online form to fill in which is asking lots of different questions about finances, etc, it is entitled 'Vehicle Order Agreement'. The salesman has assured us that this is just will just be a soft search for now, and nothing will be applied for until we have test driven the car and filled in/signed forms in person. However, I am suspicious. Has anyone experienced this before? Once this form is 'e-signed' are we tied to paying any money? Thank you in advance.

You're committing to buying the car from them unless there's a problem with it. You're not paying them to move it to another branch just for you to sit in and go "nah", so they are asking for you to go through the finance paperwork in advance. It's a 90 minute drive between the 2, so it'd be cheaper for you to travel down and see it especially if you're not that sure about buying it.0

Can I ask what you did in the end? I’m in same situation despite AC saying I’m not committing to anything.....0

£100 quid to take it off sale? I'd be going elsewhere at that point.0

Why? (to both of the comments above).greyteam1959 said:Bloomin cheek !!!
As the £100 is fully refundable should the sale not go ahead, what's wrong with them wanting to make sure that someone isn't just reserving a car with no intention of ever buying it?0 -
Because if I pay money I want something in return. £100 in return for no goods or services, just the opportunity to purchase a vehicle they are attempting to sell me anyway seems insane.shaun_from_Africa said:Scrapit said:£100 quid to take it off sale? I'd be going elsewhere at that point.

Even if you get the £100 back?Scrapit said:

Definitely. They wanna sell me the car they bring it to me (or at least the local dealership) or they don't sell it. I've heard lot of bad things about Arnold Clark and sharp practices, and they are named shark on here so I doubt very much I'd ever buy from them anyhow. This sort of thing just confirms it.Mercdriver said:
